ECG Technician Certification Course

Electrocardiography (ECG/EKG) provides valuable information to the cardiologist about the electrical activity in the heart. The EKG is a highly specialized and technical tool for assessing cardiac function and diagnosing cardiac disease.

RCI's Electrocardiography (ECG/EKG) Technician Certification Course is a 50-hour program completed over 6 days. This course prepares students for cardiac monitoring including Holter, 12 Lead EKG, and Stress Testing. Successful completion of this course will qualify the student to sit for and take the ASPT (American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians) or NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing) national EKG certification examination.

The curriculum includes:

  • The Anatomy and Physiology: Function
  • Cardiovascular Physiology
  • Basic Electrocardiology
  • Electrical Conduction
  • The Electrocardiogram
  • Introduction to Sinus Rhythms
  • Introduction to Atrial Rhythms
  • Introduction to Junctional Rhythms
  • Introduction to Ventricular Rhythms
  • Introduction to Heart Block Rhythms
  • Introduction to Pacemaker Rhythms
  • Assessment and Treatment of Patient with Cardiac Emergency
  • Use of Testing Equipment
  • Psychological Conditioning of the Patient

Three Saturdays from 8:00am to 5:00pm and
Three Sundays from 8:00am to 5:00pm
